MCLE COURSES AND INSTRUCTIONS
Go Straight to the Course

1. You must devote at least one (1) hour per course credit for California MCLE (some jurisdictions require fifty minutes). The LawWorm.com courses are designed so that ten (10) exercises equal one hour. Of course time can vary depending upon your computer and modem speed, ISP, time of day, etc. Extra exercises are included in each course to allow for time differences and temporarily unavailable links.

2. You may not claim more than one hour by doing more than ten (10) exercises.

3. In order to avoid computer fatigue from long sessions and to allow for time scheduling convenience, all courses are worth one (1) credit and take one (1) hour to complete.

4. It is not necessary to take the courses in the sequence which they are numbered,e.g., Ethics, Ethics II, Ethics III, Ethics IV. The courses have been designed so that they may be taken independently in any order. However, if you are taking more than a single one (1) hour course on a given subject, it is recommended that you do take them sequentially. The material will flow better this way.

5. Once you have chosen a course, fill out the attendance information field at the top.

6. The course automatically opens a new window when you click on the highlighted LawWorm.com. Thus the course materials and directions will always be behind the screen you are working on.

The following instructions are intended for use with either Internet Explorer or Netscape browsers. THEY WILL NOT WORK WITH AOL BROWSER. If you are an AOL subscriber, and do not presently use either IE or Netscape in conjunction with your service, you can download them free at www.microsoft.com/ie or www.netscape.com.

All exercises will ask you to either click on the LawWorm.com index page to begin, or go to the last page of the previous exercise. You can Always go to the last screen of the previous exercise by either clicking on the far right tab on your windows task bar (at the very bottom of your monitor) or by hitting "Alt-Tab" (Mac users COMMAND-TAB) on your keyboard after you have answered a question.

After completing each exercise on screen, you must always return to the course material in order to answer the question. You can return to the course by either using the ALT-TAB function on your keyboard, or simply clicking on the Lawworm.com mcle tab on your taskbar at the bottom of your screen.
Note: If you are using the ALT-TAB function to navigate, its proper use is as follows: Thumb on ALT key, hold it down, then depress the TAB key with your index finger rapidly and lift both fingers. If you keep the tab key depressed too long, the program may scroll past the course. Think of it as a one-two-lift rhythm. Remember you can always return to the course by clicking on the lawworm.com mcle tab on your task bar, and you can always return to the previous page when asked to do so by clicking the far right tab on your task bar which will be displaying the name of the previous page on it. Many find this to be the easiest method. It just depends on whether you would rather use your keyboard or your mouse. ADDITIONAL NAVIGATION INFORMATION

You may also do the course by reducing and splitting your screen from left to right. To do this, after you have clicked on the lawworm.com link in the first question, click on the double page icon on the upper right hand corner of your screen. The lawworm.com index page will reduce in size and you will see the course screen behind it. Next, place your mouse pointer over the left border of the index page. Two parallel lines will appear, then drag the border to the right until the course can be viewed on the left in its entirety.

Next, you can resize the right, top and bottom borders of the index page to your liking by using the mouse pointer and dragging them in the same manner. Now, any page the course directs you to will always be on the right side of your screen and the course will be on the left. You will not have to use ALT-Tab or Task Bar tabs to alternate between web pages and the course when using this method. However, when you scroll down on the course to go to subsequent questions, the right side of the screen will disappear. To bring it back simply click ALT-TAB or the far right tab on your task bar.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO USE THE "BACK" BUTTON OF YOUR BROWSER TO RETURN TO THE COURSE MATERIAL AFTER FINISHING AN EXERCISE, OR TO RETURN TO THE PREVIOUS PAGE WHEN THE COURSE MATERIAL INSTRUCTS YOU TO DO SO. ALWAYS USE ALT-TAB (Mac users COMMAND-TAB) or the appropriate tab on your task bar. ONLY USE THE "BACK" TAB WHEN INSTRUCTED TO DO SO.

You can do the course entirely on screen or you can print out a hard copy and work from both. We find working from a hard copy and the screen to be easier. Also, this gives you a permanent future record of the links you have gone to.

7. YOUR START TIME WILL BE LOGGED AUTOMATICALLY. YOU MUST SPEND AT LEAST ONE HOUR ON EACH COURSE.

8. Do the exercises, answer the questions. YOUR FINISH TIME WILL BE LOGGED AUTOMATICALLY. Remember, you must do at least *ten (10) exercises, answer at least ten (10) questions and spend at least one (1) hour on the course. If you should finish in less than one hour, go to the LawWorm.com Index Page and continue to view and familiarize yourself with websites that correspond to the subject matter of the course.

9. After completing the course material, click on "Proceed To Payment Form", complete the information for our secure credit card server, then click " Submit."

IMPORTANT NOTE: You MUST click on "PROCEED TO PAYMENT," upon completing your course even if you are a Season Pass Holder.Clicking on "PROCEED TO PAYMENT," automatically logs your start/finish time into our data base. You cannot claim participatory credit for a course, and we cannot issue a Certificate of Completion for such unless your start/finish time is logged into our data base.

MCLE SEASON PASS HOLDERS click on "Proceed To Payment Form", and then click on the "Season Pass" Link, enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD, to complete the process.

10. An "Evaluation Form" will pop up after you have completed the process. Fill form in on screen and click submit. A certificate of attendance will be sent to you via e-mail upon receipt of your answer sheet and usage information (automatic when you submit credit card.) Sign the certificate and keep it with your records for Four (4) years in the event of an audit. Do not mail the Certificate to the California State Bar unless asked to do so.

IMPORTANT: In doing the exercises you will be directed to various websites on the internet. When viewing a website which is of particular interest to you, it is suggested that you bookmark said site for your future reference.

SELECT YOUR COURSE FROM THE MENU ON THE LEFT AND BEGIN.

More courses are being developed on a regular basis. LawWorm.com invites lawyers and firms to submit suggestions on new course subject matter. LawWorm.com will make every effort to develop future courses based upon such suggestions.
